A place for updates on pottery, painting, commissions and life as an artist.

An introduction to Abigail and her work:

Hi, I'm Abigail. Illustrator and Potter from and based in Whitby, North Yorkshire. My creative disciplines express my love for bold, bright colours and things that make me happy. My paintings are usually contemporary and illustrative landscapes based on my surroundings and the places that mean the most to me. I also make stoneware pottery which aims to brighten up and add some colour to your crockery collection.

I am the Artist in Residence at The Geall Gallery in Grosmont where I work in an open studio most Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. I lived next door to the gallery for most of my childhood so I think it's fair to say I'm a local artist.

'Starry Night Sky' Small Batch Pottery

My most recent small-batch pottery collection

This year I had to take a break from potting as I have suffered with carpal tunnel. :(

However, I managed to squeeze out a very small amount of pots, which have mostly already been sold at Whitby Art Fair 2023. I have a couple of pots left over which I won't be adding to my website this time but are available in the gallery.

This very small-batch collection included my signature 'Starry Night Sky' pots as well as introducing a new series of 'Strawberry Feilds Forever' pots, which went down really really well, so will be returning soon.

Commissions

I have been blown away by the number of commission requests I have received. I am so grateful for the support I have and continue to receive. I am now FULLY BOOKED for commissions this year and I am now forming a waiting list for next year's commissions.

Earlier this year I was commissioned to paint the longest painting I had ever done, roughly about 15X47". It took me a lot longer than my usual commissions but the commissioner was very pleased with the painting which captured all of Whitby's rich history.

This instead of a newsletter?

So, I originally planned to make a mailing list and send out newsletters. However, I feared people's inboxes being filled with junk and spam that they may get lost or accidentally deleted. Therefore, I decided to make this blog to keep updated. Hopefully, if you signed up to my mailing list this platform notifies you when I create a new blog post. I'm not sure how often I will post here, probably just whenever I feel I have something to say.

Thank you for reading :)
